Under Construction

you what?

Le Baiser de L'Arc de Triomphe nothing is ever quite what it seems and I'm pretty sure this page is one of the exceptions which some people would say proves the rule. How an exception can prove a rule is beyond me, if you know could you please tell me because quite frankly the mind boggles.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, rum and raisin ice cream oww, cold fingers, cold fingers, cold fingers. I like rhum balls as well (otherwise known as rhum truffles) and I'm trying to get everyone I know hooked on the things. In case you don't know what rhum balls are, they're a chocolate rum flavoured thing coated in chocolate hundreds and thousands and they taste better than sex.

So now you know what this page is about:

Food for Thought
(or Thoughts about Food)

(And no, we're not going to be eating old people or babies if that title was beginning to worry you)

I'm currently on a quest for the perfect Chow Mein so if you think you've found it then tell me because this is very important and the world needs to have the definitive list of all the best places for it, help me give them this planet saving list!

A Critique Of Chow Mein

by a guy who likes to be called "the Downward Spiral"

Ah, the perfect chow mein should be freshly cooked (although a cold chow mein left in the fridge overnight is quite pleasant) and should also be slightly burned, although very slightly.

It should contain a decent amount of beansprouts so that it isn't too dry but shouldn't contain too many, otherwise you may just as well go and buy a chop suey. Chicken is really good with chow mein, always the most popular if I remember (I worked in a chinese takeaway for 2 years). Duck is really really good, although it is very expensive. Easily the tastiest. Try and avoid beef and pork as they can often be chewy and awkward to eat.

p.s. The Jade Garden Takeaway was probably the best chinese in the whole of mid Kent as they had customers come 10 miles away just to get their food, even though there were loads of other nearer places they could've gone to. (I reckon they went there cos they were attracted to my boyish good looks!!) :-)

END
Personally I've always preferred Prawn Chow Mein, though it seems to me that if you have king prawns the chow mein ends up a little watery. If you have the normal "little" prawns then there is a lot more flavour to the chow mein, I don't know why, it just is.
By the way, the page over here is not really dedicated to the guy above, I just like the idea of being on a downward spiral.

Ending on a quote from a George Michael song (I hate him by the way and it's his only decent song)
"If you ever hunger, hunger for me"
